Zalman FPS Gun Mouse

At the CeBit, Zalman is really pushing its FPS Gun FG1000 which was launched in early 2008 at the CES. This «mouse» devoted to FPS is based on the simple idea of offering a peripheral upon which you can press a trigger to fire instead of a mouse button.
ZALMAN IS KNOWN for doing things that initially seem a bit odd but are quite cool and useful. When they come out with the FPSGun mouse/gaming device, we had to try it to see about the cool and useful part.

The short story is the FPSGun is highly user and game dependent. Some people will love it, some will hate it, and some, like me, fall in the middle. One thing you can say is that it really is different, sometimes cool and useful, sometimes not. In the end, it defies a clear thumbs up/down on performance, but on looks, it is right up there with the best.

Samsung ST550

14 August 2009, Samsung Digital Imaging Co. Ltd. announced the arrival of the Samsung ST550 and Samsung ST500, the latest in compact camera innovation. The new models set themselves apart from the pack with the innovative inclusion of Dual LCD screens on front and back; allowing consumers to truly put themselves in the picture.

Delivering a unique experience, the 1.5” LCD located on the front of the camera now allows consumers to take first rate photos whether they are behind the camera or in front of it. Nikon D5000

The D5000’s most distinctive feature is its 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot, tilt-and-swivel LCD screen—a first among Nikon cameras. The display provides surprising clarity given its image depth (the D90’s LCD clocks in at 920,000 dots). It doesn’t articulate and swing out; but it does flip out and down, and it can turn around and inward for protection. Although I would have preferred a greater range of motion, I still loved the freedom and enhanced creativity that the movable screen provided. The camera’s compact size and light weight also enable users to make the most of unusual camera angles, such as shooting overhead or close to the ground.

There are seven primary shooting modes:
* Auto: An automatic "point-and-shoot" mode with virtually all camera settings determined by the camera according to conditions; flash will fire automatically if the subject is poorly lit. The Picture Control (PC) menu, which provides a wide range of sharpening, contrast, brightness, saturation and hue adjustments, is disabled in this mode.
* Program: Camera sets shutter speed and aperture for optimal exposure
* Aperture Priority: User selects aperture, camera determines shutter speed
* Shutter Priority: User selects shutter speed, camera determines aperture
* Manual: User selects shutter speed and aperture
* Scene: The D90 offers portrait, landscape, close-up, sports, and night portrait scene presets in which the camera optimizes settings according to the mode chosen
* D-Movie: HD video capture is available at up to 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) and 24 fps in Motion JPEG format;

In the Box:
• Nikon D5000 body with body cap
• 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G VR lens
• DK-24 rubber eyecup (on camera)
• EN-EL9a rechargeable Li-ion battery
• MH-23 Quick Charger
• AN-DC3 strap
• UC-E6 USB cable
• EG-CP14 audio/video cable
• BS-1 hot shoe cover
• DK-5 eyepiece cap

Samsung Crest Solar E1107

Samsung has introduced their first solar-powered phone, an inexpensive device targeted at emerging markets. The dual-band (900/1800MHz) GSM E1107 “Crest” includes a normal 800 mAh battery that is charged normally and a large solar panel which provides 5-10 minutes of talk time for each hour it is exposed to the sun.

In areas where stable electric outlets are scarce, carrying this phone makes a lot of sense. Leaving it in a sunny window all the time would eliminate the need to charge the device.

Bouygues Telecom have today announced that they will be the first carrier to launch the upcoming Samsung I7500 Android phone in Europe later this year.
Originally scheduled for a June release, it appears the Samsung handset has been pushed back a few weeks with

Despite these features the Samsung I7500 remains a slim and compact design measuring a mere 11.9mm in thickness.

The I7500's impressively large 3.2“AMOLED screen provides the perfect display for highlighting multimedia content and a full-touch mobile experience.

Samsung Galaxy i7500 specs include:

* HSDPA 7.2Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps (900 / 1700/ 2100MHz), EDGE / GPRS (850/ 900/1800/1900) connectivity

Blackberry Storm

Features:
* Camera (3.2 MP)
* Built-in GPS
* Media Player
* Video Recording
* BlackBerry® Maps
* Wireless Email
* Organizer
* Browser
* Phone
* Corporate Data Access
* SMS/MMS

Body
It's surprisingly heavy. Like, heavier than RIM's manly slab of smartphone, the Bold, at 5.47 oz to the Bold's 4.7 oz. It feels thick, too, thicker than it actually is, because of its squarish shape.

Size and Weight
Height:
4.43 inches (112.5 mm)
Width:
2.45 inches (62.2 mm)
Depth:
0.55 inches (13.95 mm)
Weight:
5.5 ounces (155 grams)

That Button Screen
When you push the screen and it clicks, it's a genuinely satisfying tactile sensation that, as I said in my hands on, is clearly a finely tuned experience. You won't accidentally press it when you don't mean to, but you don't have to drop a sledgehammer on it, either. Like the rest of the body, it's a sturdy piece of hardware that seems like it will hold up over the many, many thousands of clicks it will endure in its life time. The only concern is that it seems like the chasm between the screen and rest of the body is a lint nest waiting to happen. But the gap is large enough you should be able to clean your pocket gunk out with the edge of a toothpick.
Screen and Data Input
The Storm has the biggest, highest resolution screen RIM has ever produced with a 480x360 res. It's bright and beautiful, though not quite as stunning as the Bold's since it has a lower pixel density.
* SurePress™ touch screen
* On screen keyboard: portrait SureType® and Multi-tap, QWERTY landscape
* Dedicated keys: Send, End, Menu, Return

Network
No Wi-Fi is a bummer, even with Verizon's fantastic 3G network, 'cause not even it penetrates everywhere. That said, one of the Storm's greatest strengths is Verizon's network, with its basically unbeatable coverage, and you'll get a signal most everywhere that's not a subway, airplane or supervillian secret lair.
* UMTS/HSPA: 2100 MHz
* North America: 850 MHz GSM®/GPRS networks
* North America: 1900MHz GSM/GPRS networks
* Europe/Asia Pacific: 1800MHz GSM/GPRS networks
* Europe/Asia Pacific: 900MHz GSM/GPRS networks
* Dual-Band: 800/1900 MHz CDMA/Ev-DO networks

Camera
The camera is 3.2MP of noisy noise, like most cellphone cameras, with auto flash, auto focus, 2x digital zoom
Battery
Talk time: 6 hours
1400 mAhr removable/rechargeable cryptographic lithium cell
Memory
* Expandable memory – support for microSD™ card
* 1GB onboard memory
* 128 MB Flash (flash memory)

Device Security
* Password protection and screen lock
* Sleep mode
* Support for AES or Triple DES encryption when integrated with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
